Virtual preceptorship training program for hematologists

The Haemophilia Centre and Haemostasis and Thrombosis Unit of the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Brussels, BELGIUM, a WHF (World Federation of Haemophilia) designated International Haemophilia Training Centre (IHTC) has recently  hosted a virtual preceptorship training program for Spanish and Portuguese hematologists looking after patients with inherited and acquired bleeding disorders.

This initiative is part of the center’s vision for closing the gap in Knowledge and Practice for healthcare professionals actively involved in haemophilia care around the globe. The training has taken place virtually in three sessions in November and December. Important topics such as haemophilic arthropathy, treatment options, prophylaxis, invasive surgical procedures and individualizing therapy in haemophilia have been discussed during the course. Attendees have participated at the course with open debate and presenting their own clinical cases to discuss with the experts from Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc. Participants have been able also to watch a video tour of the Unit facilities where the outpatient clinic and laboratories at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc were presented with its organization and equipment so participants could feel the sensation of travelling to this hospital of reference.
